North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service supports people living in Elmbridge, Spelthorne and Epsom & Ewell that are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse with practical and emotional support for them and their children.

Story

Natasha and Louis are running to support North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (NSDAS) (who are managed by registered charity 1094025 Citizen Advice Elmbridge (CAEW)

My two children and I have survived quite a difficult 2021 which has resulted in my husband and I divorcing. Ten months ago I was not in the best place emotionally, mentally and physically. A referral was made and since then with the assistance of CAEW and NSDAS I have managed to build a strong professional support  system around me which in turn has allowed me to protect and support my two children through this difficult transition in their life.

We have all been victims of domestic abuse and thankfully  my family and I are in a much better, happier and stable place now. Emotional and physical domestic abuse has increased horrifically over the also two years and in turn means an increase in  demand of services that charities like North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service offer.

2022 is definitely brighter and has started much more positively for us. My son and I started the Couch to 5K challenge which has had such a positive impact on our emotional and physical wellbeing. We are on target  and have now decided to do more than run for fun to and want to give something back to those who have advised and supported us over the last 10 months.

We have now decided to complete a 5K run on March 6th 2022 and  raise funds for Citizen Advice Elmbridge West and North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service.

The Charity

Citizens Advice helps people solve their, debt, legal, housing, benefits, consumer and other problems by providing free, independent, impartial and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers.

North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service provides free, confidential, independent and impartial advice to anyone aged 16 or above affected by domestic abuse living in the boroughs of Epsom & Ewell, Elmbridge or Spelthorne.

Clients are supported by domestic abuse outreach workers who help and support with safety, legal remedies and if needed can represent victims at multi agency conferences and at the specialist domestic abuse court. They also run a series of tailored recovery programmes that help empower survivors of domestic abuse to positively move forward with their lives. North Surrey Domestic Abuse Service also has a dedicated children’s service (open to 5 to 16 year old children) who have been exposed to domestic abuse, running recovery workshops and one to one support services.

Your Donation

Our target is to raise £500. £100 for every km we run.

Your donation could mean helping being able to buy sensory books for a recovering child (£5), provide specialist housing, employment, benefit and/or debt advice over the phone (£10) and being able to run a 10 week recovery programme which is very much in demand and has a current waiting list (£15)

Please support us as we support this charity. Whether it be £1, £10 or £100 every donation big or small will help.

Thank you

Natasha and Louis
