Rebuild Bachchhala Devi School · 8 February 2017

On April 25th 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal near the capital city of Kathmandu, the worst of its kind in over 80 years. 9,000 people were killed, and a further 23,000 injured.

Story

Between February and May this year we were in Nepal helping to rebuild a school damaged by the 2015 earthquakes with the charity All Hands.

All Hands is an amazing charity that helps communities around the world recover from disasters. In Nepal thousands of children have had their education massively disrupted or even put on hold by the earthquake due to the number of schools that were destroyed or made unsafe in the earthquakes.

We were lucky enough to help with the rebuild of Bachchhala Devi School, in Sindhupalchok District, from the foundations to the final lick of paint.  It was tough but rewarding work, which has definitely left a lasting impression on us.

All Hands is currently working on 7 new school build projects. As well as volunteers all these projects desperately need donations to cover the cost of building materials and equipment, as well as to employ skilled local masons to help with the construction.
