Story

Cheers for coming to look at my page!

I am buzzing to be running this year’s TSC London Marathon in October 2022, and have chosen to run for Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter (between Malvern & Worcester). The shelter looks after animals that have been abandoned or mistreated or are just unwanted. They aim to give shelter, provide medical treatment and care to these animals, and hopefully find them a home.

After being brought up around rescue dogs, it’s an issue I care about. Growing up I was basically the third child behind my older sister, and older than her - our family rescue dog. I’ve seen some sad statistics estimating that 2.7 million animals enter British rescue centres every year, the majority of which are cats and dogs. A number that is ridiculous, and I hope to reduce through raising awareness and funds for WARS.

WARS looks after cats, dogs and battery hens in the local area, and are helping to cut the number of animals being put down. Most rescue centres in the country do not have the funds to support the number of animals that get sent their way, which is why I am hoping that the cash I raise running this marathon helps WARS to help as many animals as possible.

In 2018, my sister rescued Lady the dog from WARS. She is a lovely Staffy, and I am so grateful to WARS for taking care of her before she found her way into my family’s lives. She is nuts, weird and so full of love, and likes nothing more than a good hug and lots of kisses. I am running this marathon for all the other strange little dogs like Lady, so please give generously to help more animals in need in Worcestershire, and to help me make it round those 26 miles. Someone get a Strongbow ready for the finish line!

Cheers,
Nathan
