Story

I've struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember. I officially got a diagnosis for depression and anxiety back when I was 18/19 and it has been a journey since then.

In May 2025 I attempted to take my own life because I just couldn't take it anymore. Life has a way of feeling like an unbearable weight sometimes and I decided I just couldn't carry on anymore. I felt alone and didn't think I'd be missed.

By absolute sheer luck my plans were interrupted by a phone call from my partner who just had a inkling something was off.

I made it to the hospital where I received treatment for my wounds and was put on a path to recovery.

Since then I have been doing what I can to keep going with the help and support of my close friends and family, NHS therapy/psychology teams, and charities like the Samaritans. Picking up the phone to speak to someone is never easy but I can personally say if you just need someone to listen to you then the Samaritans are a great volunteer ran service.

I would really like the opportunity to give something back to the people who have offered me support in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep and I've been alone with my thoughts so I'm going to be walking 50 miles throughout the month of November with our family dog Meg to raise as much money as I possibly can. I won't stop when I hit 50 miles though, I will keep going to try to raise as much as possible.

I'll be using an app to track our walks and I'll be taking photos to post to prove I've been on the walks 😊

If you're able to donate towards this then that would be fantastic and I'd really appreciate it but sharing this story with someone you know would also be a big help I'm sure. Raising awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding speaking up about mental health is just as important as raising money to support those struggling.

Thank you for taking the time to read this
