A wonderful determined 12 year old called Ryan died in November. He just wanted to be normal and come to school like the other children. He was diagnosed with cancer in the summer before the start of year seven and came to school just twice. Once to collect a cheque for cancer research and once to receive a award for triumph in the face of adversity. After a second summer fighting the disease he was determined to come to school and made it in for four happy weeks. Things then took a dramatic turn for the worse and just four weeks later he died.
Ryan was an important member of our community and in his short life inspired many with his determination and positivity. Ryan was passionate about Lego and all of the children donated mountains of Lego for us to make a Lego memorial to Ryan which will take pride of place in our school. Ryan and his family have taught us so much so I would do like to keep his memory alive. He inspired me and my school community so I want to help Children with Cancer by running the London Marathon.
