Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The idea to run the National 3 Peaks, running between each peak first came about at the beginning of lockdown. As the Event Director of Pure Outdoors Events, organising trail running events in the Lake District and Midlands, my working world, like a lot of people's, ground to a halt. The idea grew into a plan, with many hours pouring over maps, pounding roads and reading as much as possible regarding the history of the National 3 Peaks.

After a chance conversation at 3am in the pouring rain in Buttermere with Martin Stone, I found out about Ann Sayer's record breaking 3 Peaks walk in 1979. Ann sadly died in April of Covid-19 but her story has inspired me immensely through these dark times. She was an incredible woman, walking for 60 miles per day to complete the distance in 7 days 31 minutes. Ann, like Joss Naylor in his record breaking run/drive with Frank Davies in 1971, dipped her foot in the sea at Fort William before ascending Ben Nevis and then again at Caernarfon after descending Snowdon. I hope to repeat this, starting on 1st September at 5am, completing the National 3 Peaks Run, slipway to slipway.

I know times are tough for lots of people, especially if you worked in the Events industry. I'd like to raise some funds for the 3 Mountain Rescue teams responsible for the 3 peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, namely Lochaber, Wasdale and Llanberis.

Thanks to Mountain Fuel, La Sportiva and Open Tracking for their support. Thanks in advance to Dave and Albert for being my Support Crew, I'll try not to have too many Diva Demands...
