Christmas Appeal 2010 · 25 December 2010 ·

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - that's over 8 million people. For almost 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated.

Story

Did you know five million people are living with eczema in the UK today? For those with moderate to severe eczema, the social and psychological impact can be devastating and have a huge impact on quality of life.  So many of those living with this condition are unaware that information, advice and support are just a phone call away.  We can change that but we need your help to do so.

Eczema or dermatitis is a group of inflammatory skin disorders that make the skin dry, itchy, flaky, red and sore.  In more severe forms the skin can become broken and weep or bleed.  If eczema becomes infected it can be life threatening.

Our aim for the forthcoming year is to get our information and messages to many more people at a local level suffering from eczema. Funds from our Christmas appeal will be used to fund greater participation in family events UK-wide so that we can do more for and reach more people dealing with the everyday challenges of living with a condition for which there is no cure.

A gift of any size will ensure that no-one with eczema has to fight the dreaded itch alone.

Thank you for your support.
