While we challenge ourselves to do a 100km trailwalker challenge, many less fortunate still face a daily challenge for survival in the Kanto Tohoku region.

I was in Iwate prefecture last week and the photos on the left are from this trip at the beginning of Golden Week. It is undoubtedly still a time where much is left to be done and support for the experts and professionals is crucial to those affected by the tsunami and earthquake.

We are raising money for Civic Force to help them.

 

Civic force is a Japanese NGO that not only provides disaster relief but is also focused to be part of the co-ordination effort amongst NGOs, local and foreign aid agencies so that effective aid gets to those who need it.

We have four of us on the team and the money we raise will be matched by Barclays, up to 3000 GBP we will be matched pound for pound.

If you are wondering about trailwalker itself, its a challenge to walk through some tough trails to complete as a team of 4 people a 100km course in under 48 hours. We'll be doing it in less than that we hope, but its going to be tough. As part of the challenge we are required to raise a fixed amount for Oxfam, we're paying that money ourselves as a team so we can raise cash here for Tohoku.
