We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

One in every three people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives and it is a harsh reality that most people will witness the devastating effect of this disease first hand as it impacts the lives of a friend or loved one.

The Nauti Buoys are no different and all have relatives who’ve been diagnosed with cancer. Some have managed to overcome the disease, whilst others have unfortunately not been as lucky.

Cancer continues to be one of the most prevalent healthcare issues of our time, which made it an obvious cause to shortlist for our fundraising efforts across our team’s Atlantic campaign.

During his time studying medicine at Southampton University, our Buoy Matthieu came across Cancer Research UK as the charity has close ties to the hospital and operates one of the countries leading research centres on location.

Right now, Cancer Research UK researchers, fundraisers, doctors, nurses, patients, volunteers, campaigners and supporters are beating cancer. The charity works hard to prevent the disease, diagnose it early, develop new treatments and optimise existing treatments to make them more effective. The findings of their research are shared with a global network of experts and individuals, all united under the common goal of beating cancer sooner. Cancer Research UK also provides cancer information and support to the public.

Around 3,400 cases of cancer in the UK each year could be prevented by keeping active through regular exercise. Owing to the intensely physically active nature of our challenge, we hope to use it to raise awareness for this preventative measure, whilst fundraising for the incredible work and research conducted by Cancer Research UK.

Please join us in the fight to beat cancer by donating what you can.
