Akshaya Patra is a non-profit charity which feeds and educates homeless children in India. I have chosen this charity because I often visit my family in India and I see young children running barefoot in the scorching heat or shivering without any clothes in the biting cold; asking for food or water on the streets. This was an appalling site. To support this noble cause, I am doing a read-a-thon in which I will read 10 books (with no less than 304 pages) in a week starting from the 15th of February 2021. This half-term, I will be giving up television and my screen-time for this week to dedicate my time towards reading.
