On Wednesday 6th May, Les Duff will be 100.
In recognition of achieving this magnificent milestone, we are asking for
donations to Nazareth House, Birkenhead in lieu of Birthday presents.
He served his country in the Royal Navy during World War 2.
His ship, RMS Carinthia, was torpedoed off the West coast of Ireland in 1940. He took part in the Arctic Convoys, a journey that Churchill described as “the worst journey in the world” and was awarded the Arctic Star by the MOD in 2013. The Russian Government also honoured him for his “Personal Courage and Bravery” displayed during the Arctic Convoys and awarded him the Ushakov medal in 2016.
As a lifelong parishioner of St Anne’s, Rock Ferry, he
served his parish admirably. He was an altar server for 87 years, a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years (both at Mass and to the housebound) and he collected for the Oblate Missions for over 53 years. He was also well known for his work for the CMS and the Lourdes Diocesan Hospitality.
By donating to Nazareth Care, we can show ‘Uncle Les’ how
much we love him and to show our gratitude for the wonderful care he has received in the last 2 years, while living in Nazareth House.
Thank You.
