NCS Walk 4 Midshires · 10 August 2022

We are an organisation of trained volunteers who can be called out by the Police to search for missing and vulnerable people. We can be called to assist other Lowland search teams in major incidents in neighbouring areas, and we are also able to assist in civil emergency situations. We may be mobilised at short notice to search for a missing person in woodland, quarries, watercourses, nature reserves, farmland, towns and villages. Operating in all weathers, 24/7, 365 days a year, our search teams can save lives. Families and friends of missing people appreciate that a group of specialist volunteers have been ready and able to give their time to search for their loved one.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are walking 64km between Wednesday 10th August and Thursday 11th August. The reason we're doing this challenge is to raise funds for Midshires Search and Rescue, our local search and rescue team that covers Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Like all search and rescue teams in the UK, Midshires is completely self funded and relies on charitable donations to operate. It is fully run by volunteers and no one is paid when they go out assisting the police on searches for missing and vulnerable people.

This charity is very important to us as a lot young people go missing or run away from home. Midshires are responsible for finding these people making this charity incredibly important and relevant to us.
