Massive habitat loss over the past 100 years has wiped out 50% of Asia's wild elephant population, along with the vital ecosystems they used to support. Elephant Family exists to save this iconic animal from extinction by securing vital habitat and reducing conflict with local communities.

Story

For those who know me, you'd probably think I've lost my mind. Nitha not touching a glass of wine, sacrificing sleeping in on weekends (and those amazing Netflix episodes) and ACTUALLY going for runs - in this bloody freezing British weather - for more than 3km?!

That is unheard of.

But there is a reason why - and I'd like you to be a part of it.

The iconic Asian elephant is becoming homeless.

Massive loss of habitat has caused elephant numbers to plummet by 90% in the last 100 years, earning them an unwanted place on the IUCN Red List.

I am running a half marathon to raise awareness about the Elephant Family. It is an NGO on a mission to save these majestic giants from extinction. It looks out for both elephants and human families, funding pioneering solutions such as "elephant corridors" (See: https://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/energy-and-environment/elephant-corridors-in-india-threatened-says-study/article20231670.ece)

I know everyone has a soft spot for elephants (and if you don't I am not sure why we are friends?!). I would be eternally grateful for your donation - any amount would be GREAT! I need to raise £800 before the race (Oct 14) and as a promise, I'll ensure not to die on my 13 mile run.

Much love,
Nitha x
