Hi my name is Ned Nakles, and I will be running the Challenge the North Face 50k on September 6th, 2008. This will be my first ultra-marathon, and it is a trail run in Washington DC by the Potomac River. I have chosen to dedicate my run to members of my family who suffer from or have died of cancer. 2009 will mark the tenth anniversary of the death of my grandfather to brain cancer. Since my family has a history of cancer, and I have been an avid West Ham Supporter for around half of my life, the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research was an obvious choice as a charity to raise money for. With sponsorships going to this wonderful cause, I feel motivated to train harder than I ever have before and perform at my best during this race. I am a track athlete at my university, Colby College, and will continue my training regime throughout the Summer. I am dedicating hours and hours of my time to getting my body in the best shape as possible to not just finish this race but to finish it with gusto. I hope in recognition of my efforts to get support and awareness for cancer research, you will chip in a few pounds. Every amount matters no matter how little or how large.
