We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You may not realise, but the chances are you will know someone with Type 1 Diabetes. On a day to day basis, they will appear completely normal due to the time they spend managing this condition. But occasionally, for no apparent reason, this may suddenly change. My younger brother Neil had Type 1 Diabetes. He was the life and soul of any party, entertaining, energetic, charismatic and annoying in equal measure! Everyone loved him. There had been times when he'd passed out in the supermarket while shopping with his 2 amazing children who knew what to do; and there was also the diabetic seizures, so violent that a broken collar bone and other injuries were the result. He generally did well, determined not to let it affect his life or career, maintaining his blood sugars level in partnership with Kirsten, his ever vigilant wife. Despite the air of independence, management of this sometimes unstable condition, for Neil, was definitely a team effort.
On 21st October 2015 we were given the devastating news that Neil had suffered a heart attack as a result of the complexities of Type 1 Diabetes and the space left in my family cannot be filled.

By donating generously, you can help the understanding of this condition, Type 1 Diabetes, knowing that you will be helping someone you know.

Many thanks.
