Story

We continue to ride for our friend Neil and can't wait to get on the road from London to Manchester with a new group of cycling daredevils! Our 2023 team includes David, Ben, Kevin, Tom, Dominic, Chris and Nina.

We will once again tackle over 360km (220 miles) and 3,700m of climbing (over 1200 ft) in the Peak District over two days on the 8th and 9th September 2023 to arrive in time for the Annual Hotel Conference.

Our chosen charity is Myocarditis this year, which is very close to our hearts. For one, because it's a heart related condition which honors our connection to Neil, but also because Andy Jansons has been an incredible champion and sponsor of this ride since its inception and has even joined us to drive the support car. We are very grateful for his continued support and would love to raise as much as possible for this incredibly important cause.

Myocarditis UK (formally The Alexander Jansons Fund) was set up after the death of Alexander Jansons from Myocarditis in July 2013, at the age of 18. With little to no information provided on this inflammatory condition affecting the heart, the charity was founded to research the causes, prevention and cures for Myocarditis.

Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle. In the United Kingdom, one young person dies suddenly each week due to undiagnosed myocarditis. It can affect anyone at any age and is usually related to recent viral infection. The virus may have gone
but the immune system over-reacts causing inflammation that can persist in the heart. Other causes include bacterial infections, certain medications, toxins and autoimmune disorders..

Myocarditis UK is a 100% non-profit organisation. All donations are used towards furthering and achieving the charity’s 3 main aims as well offering information and assistance to clinicians and researchers.

About the charity

Myocarditis kills one young person suddenly every week in the UK. We aim to raise awareness and fund life changing research into this little known heart condition so that it can be detected and diagnosed earlier and successfully treated to improve the outcome.
