Harriet our daughter was antenatally diagnosed with dark patches in her stomach very late on in the pregnancy and within a heart beat we were being shown where she would be placed on NICU meeting the team that would receive her immediately after she was born. 

The surgeons greeted us to talk us through how they would perform surgery the day after she was born to release the blockages in her tiny tiny tummy, we felt like time was standing still. 

Harriet arrived early and all of a sudden we were hit with the reality of life on NICU... it’s a life in another world! The emotions the worries, the scares and the scars that any parent should never have to face felt somewhat easier knowing you had the most incredible heartfelt support of the staff on the unit. 

There are no words to thank the team enough and so by doing this challenge I feel like I’m giving the smallest amount back, it’s a tough challenge ahead but nothing compares to the simply amazing talents, mindsets and strength of the doctors and nurses who cared for our daughter during her first months. 

Recently Harriet was given the all clear from the surgical team, neurology and urology 3 years on from her life saving surgery and care of the wingless angels, also known as the NHS nurses!
