Maggie’s Centres are warm and welcoming places built alongside NHS hospitals that provide the support that people with cancer and their family and friends need. www.maggiescentres.org

Story

Like many charities, Maggie's Lanarkshire has been hit by lower than normal fundraising due to Covid-19.

The pandemic and lockdown restrictions significantly impacted people with cancer and postponed surgeries and delayed treatments. Isolation increased anxiety amongst those affected by cancer but Maggie’s cancer support specialists, psychologists and benefits advisors worked throughout the pandemic providing a varied programme of support.

Maggie’s supports anyone affected by cancer and their friends and family.

The FireWalk is the first centre-based fundraising event since restrictions lifted and I have to walk barefoot over hot coals that reach a temperature of around 1200 degrees.

I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to it and I imagine fear might kick in but I’m certain that it will be a fun and inspiring challenge and I know it is for a great cause and all donations made through this page go directly to Maggie's Lanarkshire.
