Trek to Everest base camp, marathon & 10k run · 31 January 2013

When life gets tough or it feels like there's nowhere to turn, Barnardo's is here. We make sure children and young people feel safer, happier and more hopeful by directly supporting them with specialist services across the UK. We have been changing childhoods and changing lives for over 150 years.

Story

If you would like to show your appreciation for the information provided within the Greets Echo blog, please consider making a donation to Barnardo's.

Alternatively I would appreciate any donation for the following  endeavours:

My eldest son Luke said it was a pity I wasn't fit enough to join him on a trek to Everest base camp. This was like a red rag to a bull to an old man pushing 60.

This is what has been achieved as a result of this challenge.

1. Completed two marathons in a week. The Farnham Pilgrim Marathon (15th Sept) & New Forest Marathon (22nd Sept).

2. Trekked to Everest base camp

The above was a  challenge as:

a. The first time I completed a marathon it took 6 hours as I got lost and ended up running 29.6 miles.

b. In the London 10k I only achieved an official time of 46 minutes by attaching my timing chip to one of my sons shoes.

c. I am not what you would call in top condition.

If you donate, your money goes directly to Barnardo's along with any Gift Aid claimed.

My target was to raise £5303.52. This is £1 for every meter Everest Base Camp is above sea level.

Thankyou in anticipation to anybody who.donates.
