It only costs £4,000 to build a house for a poor family in the Dominican Republic. Please help us to build 21 of these homes in the Rio De Vida village.

Story

I want to raise £4,000 to build a home for a poor family in the Dominican Republic (DR). Yes, that's right! Just £4,000 to build a house for a family. Away from the pristine beaches and holiday locations, poverty is a significant challenge there. Many of the poor are Haitian refugees and migrants who travelled to the DR looking for a better life, only to become trapped in informal settlements and slum dwellings. Mission Direct (a UK based charity) want to build 21 houses in the Rio De Vida village being developed by the Samaritan Foundation (based in the DR), which will be a sustainable village with secure brick-built houses and local services like a school, and other community and medical facilities.

Please help me to house a needy family in the DR.If there is any surplus from this project, it will be allocated to general project development to benefit people in the future, and Mission Direct will use the Gift Aid collected to cover general operational and administrative costs

I was hoping to visit Uganda this coming year with Mission Direct but with the current uncertainty surrounding global travel it is looking very likely now that all planned trips with this charity organisation are going to be postponed a further 12 months into 2022. With this in mind, I have taken on the challenge to try raise enough funds if possible to support building one of these houses. Part of this challenge is in the coming months I plan to "sleep out" overnight on the church steps at ABC to bring the sense of how homelessness must feel and the following morning participate in completing a 10Km run. If anyone feels lead to support even in the smallest way I would be very grateful .. Thank you for all your support, it is very much appreciated .. Neil
