Brighton Marathon 2017 · 9 April 2017 ·

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition in which there is an increased tendency for the blood to clot. The condition can cause strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli and DVTs. In pregnancy, APS is a leading cause of recurrent miscarriage and stillbirth.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always wanted to train for and run a marathon but never quite managed to dedicate the time and effort to what is a demanding schedule. I took the decision to run the Brighton marathon, as although the London marathon is an exciting event, I wanted my first marathon to be about the run and raising money for my nominated charity.

I have decided to run for APS Support UK as it is a smaller charity which perhaps doesn't get the mainstream attention of others, but is equally as important as any. I must admit I didn't know much about the condition beforehand but am excited at the thought of raising money for a charity which works hard to benefit those who suffer and try and maintain as 'normal' a life as possible.

All donations, small or large, will be greatly welcomed and appreciated. I will continue to update on my progress as I approach race day on April 9th, but for now, thank you for visiting my justgiving page and please donate as much as you can for what I believe is a worthwhile cause.
