Update May 2009
Done it! Most of you will know by now - completed the marathon in 5hrs 39 minutes. Just one thing to say, thank you all!
Update 21st April 2009
Thank you everyone - my target of £1000 has been hit, thanks to the generosity of all my online and offline friends, family and benefactors!
I don't want to stop there, it's important that I raise as much as I can. I've raised my target to £1310 which would represent a fantastic £50 per mile, please help me get there! Right now rhinos are in crisis, no more so than in Zimbabwe, where the lawless state leaves organisations powerless to help combat a real increase in poaching of black rhino. So I have upped my target - please continue to sponsor me and help Save the Rhino
Hello, thanks for coming here!
On Sunday April 26th I am running the Flora London Marathon to raise money for Save the Rhino International.
Please sponsor me all you can - those of you that know me well know that this will be no mean feat as I have chosen this occasion to do the first voluntary physical exercise of my life! Your donations will spur me on to what will hopefully be the most amazing triumph, and will go towards a very worthy cause. My place in the marathon relies on me raising at least £1000 to the cause so I hope you can help me head towards that target and beyond.
Fewer than 18000 rhinos exist in the wild, and the threats of illegal hunting, habitat loss and alternative medicine mean that these numbers are in continuing decline. The three asian species are all critically endangered, with just 275 Sumatran and as few as 70 Javan rhinos left in the wild.
Now here's the blurb ...
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Save the Rhino International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
