Story
On 11th March, four members of the Neilsons' team will be taking part in a 100ft abseil off the top of the Falkirk Wheel in aid of Maggie's Centres!
Last year Neilsons raised £6,455 for Maggie's Centres, and we are eager to raise even more in 2023.
Our Property Consultant Amy Howard has had first-hand experience of the incredible work Maggie’s do. Following her diagnosis of Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, the team at the Western General Hospital recommended she contact Maggie’s. They provided support to Amy and her kids.
Amy said “Maggie’s helped me find my feet again after the treatment at the hospital had finished. The process of chemo, radiotherapy, hospital stays and appointments felt like a clear path to follow, but when all that ended I had a gruelling 3 month wait until I could have a scan to see if it had all worked. Maggie’s kept me sane during that time and I visited regularly to talk through everything I was feeling. My young children were also able to visit the centre and ask their team about everything I had been through, it was really calming for them to hear from the experts there that I really was going to be ok, something that isn’t possible in a clinical setting, especially during the pandemic. I also attended their ‘Where Now’ course for cancer survivors and have met some lifelong friends who’ve been in a similar boat. The work that Maggie’s do and the expert support they provide is invaluable. Whilst the Western saved my life, Maggie’s saved my soul. The more we can raise so they can support more people the better!”
Any donations large or small are greatly appreciated!
