Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2017 my youngest daughter Bethany was admitted to Charing Cross hospital, after a mis-diagnosis of sinusitis, in fact it was later confirmed that she had actually suffered a brain aneurysm. This was totally unexpected given she was such a young age (25years old), in good health with no history of anything that would have alerted us to this. On admission to hospital Beth messaged the family from her hospital bed confirming a diagnosis of 'a bleed on the brain', it was then that our whole world fell apart in the space of a few seconds. Our little girl was facing a life threatening condition for which no one could predict the outcome.
During her time in hospital Beth displayed a truly inspirational and positive attitude, and we had some difficult decisions to make as a family.
Four months on and Beth and the family are still coming to terms with what has happened as it has left some physical symptoms and psychological scars which will take time to heal. Throughout we have all remained positive but it has made us realise as a family that nothing is guaranteed in life and every moment together should be treasured.
In response to what has happened Tilly (My eldest daughter) and myself decided that we needed to raise awareness that brain aneurysm's are indiscriminate and can affect everyone regardless of age. Therefore, we are both intending to run the Great North Run 2018 in order to raise funding for the Brain & Spine Charity.
We would be grateful for any donation for this charity, as our experience has shown it really can affect anyone.
