Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

*****PLEASE ADD THE WORDS "FOR R4C" IN YOUR DONATION.   This way we can ensure the donation goes directly to the Earthquake Project.

We are hosting a gig in Brockenhurst on Saturday 30th April to raise money for the Nepal-based charity, Right4Children (via their UK partner, Freedom Matters).

FREEDOM MATTERS IS WORKING ALONGSIDE INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL ORGANISATIONS IN PROVIDING EARTHQUAKE RELIEF TO COMMUNITIES DEVASTATED BY THE APRIL AND MAY 2015 EARTHQUAKES.

The earthquakes of April and May 2015 caused devastation in the hills around Kathmandu and especially to its north and northwest. Freedom Matters was able to respond quickly since one of their Trustees, Douglas Maclagan, lives in Pokhara. He was joined a few days after the first earthquake by UK-based Trustee Jan Turner who was able to bring her experience in relief work to the team. Over the space of 12 days they  ran relief convoys into Sindhupalchowk District, providing three months' worth of food security to 8,000 people and sufficient to see them through the 2015 monsoon season.

Several Brockenhurst residents have been to this part of Nepal and a group of us have come together to raise funds to help the wonderful people of Nepal rebuild their country. We will be hosting a Fundraising Gig in Brockenhurst Village Hall (see https://www.facebook.com/events/1838821753011491/ for further information)  on Saturday 30th April, ticket sales, a raffle and donations on the night will all help towards our target but if you are unable to attend and still would like to donate you can do so via this page and all monies will go directly to the charity to help rebuild lives in Nepal.

This is what Freedom Matters say:

'Over two years from September 2015 we will be fully engaged in reconstruction of the community at Marpak, Nepal - schools, homes and other community assets, with the aim of building these so that they are more resilient than before. We will do this alongside ourpartners CWS HK, Right4Children and ONGD-FNEL with our committing toinvest £175,000 in these communities, of which £100,000 has already been allocated. Please help us raise the balance!'

Children4ChildrenNepal (C4CN) was founded in 2012 to work with local partners in Nepal to combat trafficking and assist vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Originally called Freedom Matters, in the last 7 years we have: worked with partners combating trafficking and assisting those affected by it; delivered immediate earthquake relief and provided counselling and support to families and communities following its devastating effects. C4CN works in Nepal with a local partner, Right 4 Children, a Nepalese charity based in Pokhara, working on projects with the most vulnerable sections of society. These projects are providing training in the service industries and helping youths find jobs to support themselves and their families. We are also working with the Nepalese Government in schools to help improve the experience of school life through sports, arts drama and other projects. We are a small, cost-effective NGO managed by trustees who strongly believe that providing improved education and training opportunities for underprivileged children, young people, families and communities, helps to contribute to a safer environment, which is free from child labour, abuse and trafficking.
