Spinney and Waggonway Litter Pick for NETA · 8 June 2019

The North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA) supports people with aphasia and their carers. Aphasia means difficulties with communication, often following stroke. The person with aphasia can have problems speaking, understanding, reading and writing. This can have major effects for both the person and their family in terms of social life, work and relationships.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My daughter and a group of her friends wanted to fundraise for NETA and also see a large amount of litter in the area behind the Spinney flats and on the Waggonway between South Gosforth and Benton Road. They decided a sponsored litter pick would be a good way to clean up the area and that they could ask for sponsorship for a great cause at the same time.

NETA is important to our family because I am a speech and language therapist and have worked with people with aphasia for many years. Aphasia is something that can happen after a stroke or brain injury and means difficulty with understanding, speaking, reading, or writing. You can find out more about the work of the NETA charity and support centre at www.neta.org.uk
