Network Rail – The Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme
Network Rails Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme is one of the premier advanced apprentice schemes currently operating within the UK. Having started in 2005 and based at HMS SULTAN and COLLINGWOOD and in partnership with the Royal Navy and Babcock; the three year scheme has trained over 1300 apprentices since its beginning. Throughout their time in Gosport, Network Rail apprentices receive contextualised academic and practical instruction across a variety of subjects, including health and safety, bench fitting, mathematics for technicians and mechanical principles. As well as rail engineering, the apprentices undertake personal development training under the Institute of Leadership and Management framework, which hones their ability to work as a team, their personal fitness, and practical and conceptual leadership and management.
This year, Network Rail apprentices from year 1 of the Advanced Apprentice Scheme will be competing in the Essex and Halstead Marathon on behalf of Cancer Research UK, for the second consecutive year.
