So many fought, suffered and died in the name of the freedoms that endure for us today. Their gift then, was to enable all that we enjoy now. 

This sentiment may spark your own thoughts, and perhaps help you connect with the importance of remembering the sacrifice of so many, almost a lifetime ago.

• It is through those who fought and lived, surviving fields of twisted steel and inhumanity, that we received, first hand, the wretched truth of each soul lost …lives gifted to a dream of some dove-white future land.

• And as we each now take our granted right - the very thing they sacrificed - and stand in freedom’s meadow, sweet with riches, toiling, resting, citizens at peace, our thanks seem sparse exchange for their dark pact: their endless night to guard our wondrous days.

• Yet their intent was surely not to seek redress, no debt was meant to balance or repay. But for those whose conscience tugs, the simplest act and great kindness is to hold them dear, recall their selfless deeds and joyously make time to never never forget.
