Those struggling to conceive face one of life’s most stressful situations. Often the only option is to consider complex options such as IVF. We provide such treatments at Newcastle Fertility Centre but there are still lots of thingsthat could be improved in this treatment. The Newcastle Fertility Centrecharitable fund aims to improve the care of patients by providing extra supportbeyond what NHS resources alone can provide. This may vary from providing extrasupport for patients struggling with the emotional challenges of fertilitytreatment to supporting our research projects of why problems occur and maybeimprove treatment outcomes.

Wehave performed a range of projects varying from:

· Developingnew technologies to improve pregnancy outcome.

· Understandingwhy women have fertility problems when they are older.

· Interviewing patients to find out how they cope with their problems and the treatments they receive.

· Understanding fertility problems in men.

· Developing new techniques in the IVF lab to help those with other medical problems such as mitochondrial disease.
