Story
The thought of walking a night marathon (26.2 miles), for the ever growing 'herd' of ladies beginning their training for the 2019 London Moonwalk in aid of breast cancer, is becoming a New Forest nightmare!
The team, walking (or trotting!) under the team stable name of New Forest Night Mares, intend to dress as a herd of wild, New Forest fillies, in hi-vis bras, complete with hoof covers over their trainers and hi-vis neckbands.
Not only raising much needed funds for breast cancer, their night walk, estimated to take between 6 - 8 hours during the night of 11 May 2019, (dependent upon how fast they trot), will also raise awareness of the plight of our New Forest ponies, many of whom are killed on our roads at night.
Pack leader, Juliet Nicholas, speaking from the stable's HQ at the East End Arms Public House in Lymington, said "it all started as a bit of a joke, over a glass of wine, with a couple of girlfriends, but support for the Moonwalk breast cancer cause soon gathered momentum and we found our herd of willing, wild, New Forest fillies, suddenly expanding exponentially".... neigh, neigh, that cannot be true, we hear you say!
The drift of fillies are looking for sponsorship from local New Forest businesses, in exchange for marketing on their rumps! For more information regarding advertising or sponsorship please contact Pack Leader, Juliet on 07736 359062 or email juliet@julietspilates.com or rein in the Press Officer, Alison by emailing her at alison@sassyinteriors.co.uk.
Regular herd 'training trots' will be taking place throughout the New Forest in the coming months, together with their 'Blog Trot' updates and their 'Trot Training Timetable', noting their scheduled watering holes for when they are 'too hot to trot'.
Look out for wild fillies in the road and give them a wide berth!
