Chailey Heritage Foundation changes the lives of young people living with complex disabilities. From being able to communicate to taking their first steps, we provide life-changing education, care and a thriving community of support for the young people and their families.

Story

"I can't run" Lucy and Jenny, 2020. Cue pandemic and quite literally no other way of getting out of the house we retrieved our running trainers tucked at the back of the wardrobe since 2006. Shortly after we were joined by 'gazelle' Rebecca and husbands Richard and Charlie. It didn't take us long to decide all this running should go towards a good cause. Is there any other reason to run?!

Choosing our cause was easy. Richard and Lucy had the privilege of knowing the wonderful staff at Chailey Heritage from 2015-2017. Their son, Theo suffered brain damage at birth and due to his complex needs he was (thankfully) granted a place at the school. Without the support of this INCREDIBLE centre Theo's short life would have been very different. Theo sadly died in 2017, aged 5 and so we run this half marathon in his memory.

By donating to Chailey Heritage Foundation, however big or small your contribution goes directly to helping children with complex disabilities. You are helping support families who are all super heroes but NEED your support. You can choose to support a charity that allows children with complex needs access to schooling alongside medical facilities, where a mainstream school is just not possible. Without CHF Theo would never had experienced an education or friendships, which we can hand on heart say was the most important part of his life.
