NGH SDM Maternity council Garden Robert Watson

Lift Tower Abseil (Northampton) · 22 June 2019
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are the shared decision making council for Maternity at Northampton General Hospital working alongside Northamptonshire Health Charity. Birth can be life changing. We understand the environment surrounding a families birth experience needs to be welcoming and calming. We aspire to create a space that enables escape from a sometimes busy maternity ward. Shared decision making helps empower staff to make these changes happen, making aspirations reality. This space will be designed to reduce stress and anxiety and improve the wellbeing for those using it.
Our current space outside Robert Watson is lacklustre. Junior Sister Janet Hoffman said, “Feedback from parents is gathered regularly to improve the birth environment we provide and feel providing a calm outdoor space will help our mums feel comfortable in a hospital environment. The garden we have is not ideal so to turn it into something wonderful would be great”.
Northamptonshire Health Charity Team are launching an appeal to help raise the funds to improve this much needed space. Alison McCulloch fundraising coordinator said, “We think helping the Robert Watson team to gain access to a peaceful space for mums and their families to enjoy is a very special thing.”
Leading the way Midwife Sonia Jabke and Ward clerk Laura McDermott challenged themselves to abseil the lift tower in Northampton on June 22nd. The duo were nervous but raised a fantastic amount to help kickstart the appeal!!
