NHEHS Year 8 Appeal for Alzheimer's Society

Katie O’Connor is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

NHEHS Year 8 Appeal for Alzheimer's Society · 1 March 2021

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

Year 8 would like to support Alzheimer's Society because they feel strongly about trying to help people who are affected by Alzheimer's. They know many people who have had relatives with this disease and know the struggles it brings to families lives. One in ten people over the age of 65 have it, and that increases to 1/3 of people over 80. This disease affects many of us and those we love.

Lots of Year 8 students and tutors are completing various sponsored activities to help raise money:

From 8T alone we have:
Alex 30k swim
Zahara 20k walks
Nadia sponsored walks
Corinne 30k walk
Harriet sponsored baking
Alice 20k walking or running
Dana 100 netball shots a day
Mrs Barbosa 10k walk
Klara sponsored baking
Juliette 20k walk
