Niall and Marcus' Zurich Marathon Barcelona 2020 page

Zurich Marathon Barcelona · 15 March 2020
On Sunday 15 March I will be running my fourth marathon in three years in Barcelona.
A number of years ago my beautiful cousin Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare incurable disease called Batten Disease. It is a disease which took her eyesight from a very young age and affects the nervous system.
Charlotte spends weekdays in Hampshire at a residential home run by Seeability called Heather House and weekends with my amazing Aunt Marian and Uncle Tom. At Heather House they look after a number of young people with a range of disabilities including sight loss and life-limiting degenerative conditions. They have a reputation as a world-leading specialist nursing care home, offering a high quality service for people with Batten Disease and other complex conditions.
They offer a completely multi-disciplinary service led by registered nurses working in partnership with doctors,
physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals. Through this approach to care they provide rehabilitation to people with sight loss to help them maintain and develop skills and be more independent, they also offer speech and language therapy to support people with communication difficulties.
Through Heather House all those supported benefit from physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions as well as a opportunities to be involved in music therapy, arts and crafts, cookery, interactive technology and horticulture.
Any donations you can make for this incredible source of support for Charlotte and many others will be hugely appreciated.
