Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page. A few of us are taking part in the Acorns Bubble Run on 30th June 2018. In fact if I have it right there should be about 10 of us adults and 12 kids, the youngest being 3. Everyone will be running/walking in memory of Niamh in an attempt to raise money for Acorns Children Hospice.
In September 2011, almost 7 years ago now, we lost our beautiful Niamh, aged 3 to a brain tumour.
We had moved into Acorns as a family mid August a couple of days after her 3rd birthday thinking she only had a few days left to live. Little did we know that the care, love and support that Acorns offered her and us would enable her to enjoy a few more weeks of life. Niamh was able to relax her little body in the pool every day till almost the very end thanks to Tina and Julie, the lovely physios, she was able to rest in the multi sensory room and spend quality time with us her family as well as friends and relatives who were able to visit.
As a family, Acorns gave support to us, the parents, Niamh's sister, Emilie as well as grandparents and friends.

All of Acorns services are free of charge to families and they receive limited financial support from the Government. 70% of their funding comes from local community support. It costs £7500 per day to run each hospice. That is why they need us, all of us to raise money so they can continue to do the amazing work they do.
