SPN Christmas Fun Run · 14 December 2021

Ubuntu Women Shelter are a migrant, black and minoritised womxn led by and for organisation supporting, campaigning for and providing services and shelter (‘Shelter’ is a verb not a noun) for destitute asylum seekers, and womxn with no recourse to public funds who are survivors of violence. Our central objective is to alleviate poverty materially, socially, emotionally and psychologically. Although based in Glasgow (the largest asylum dispersal area in Scotland), the organisation works across Scotland as we are the only dedicated NRPF shelter in Scotland.

Story

This is a 'contribute what you can' charity 5k for Ubuntu women's shelter in Glasgow http://www.ubuntu-glasgow.org.uk/ The shelter provides dedicated short-term shelter for womxn with no recourse to public funds in UK, led by and for migrant womxn. The Glasgow leg of the run will be on Dec 14th at 2pm from outside the School of Psychology and Neuroscience 62 Hillhead Street. Stripey tights and Santa hats very much welcomed. We also have some graduates, colleagues joining us virtually for the run – they will run at the same time in the city/town/country they are in so if you are not here with us in Glasgow and want to do that – everyone and their dog (dogs are particularly welcome) is welcome. If you would rather just laugh at us from the sidelines - that is welcome too but you need to sponsor us for that pleasure!
