Run to the Beat 2011 · 25 September 2011 ·
We're running the 'Run to the beat' half marathon to raise money for First Touch, a wonderful charity that supports the tiniest and sickest babies born at St George's Hospital Neonatal Unit in SW London.
Our son Lucas would not be here today if it wasn't for the work of First Touch and the brilliance of the medical staff on the unit. We are eternally grateful for their skill and dedication in saving Lucas' life on more than one occasion.
We owe our family to the neonatal unit, and pounding the streets of London for 13 miles is a token of our appreciation for the amazing work they do day in, day out. More than 500 babies are cared for on the unit every year and you can help save their lives by supporting us in our quest. Every pound will make a difference.
And if that wasn't enough, the boy himself is taking part in the Adidas 5k challenge on September 11th in Hyde Park to support the charity that helped save his life (with his Mummy and some other wonderful graduates of the Neonatal Unit).
Lucas' zest for life is infectious and we can't imagine life without him. For the first few months after his birth, we watched his tiny body cling to life through the walls of an incubator. There was a determination in his eyes that still inspires us today as we watch him take on every new challenge life throws his way. So please dig deep and help us say thanks for his life by supporting First Touch and the work of the St George's Neonatal Unit.
