On October 16^th I will be running the One World United Virtual Marathon for Student Minds. Student mental health is a topic I feel very passionate about and research by Student Minds has shown that 74% students reported that COVID-19 has had a negative impact on their mental health and wellbeing. Student Minds is the UK’s student mental health charity and their goal to transform the student mental health for example by providing Student Space which is available for all.  

At Middlesex we have adopted a whole-institution approach, and our Students Union has played a crucial leadership role in partnership with academics and professionals in raising awareness and delivering support that really makes a difference.

Having seen how hard students have worked to overcome challenges, I am keen to raise awareness of this issue and also some money to help support those who need it most.

On a personal note, as the date for the marathon gets closer I can’t help thinking that it was a slightly rash decision and it certainly feels quite daunting, so any support – moral or financial – would be much appreciated.
