100 Miles January Challenge · 1 January 2020

Friends of Serenity aims to preserve and protect the health of sick pregnant women and those who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death in particular but not exclusively by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, Serenity Suites and equipment at East Lancashire Women and New Born Centre not normally provided by the statutory authorities. We work hard to support newly bereaved parents through the provision of memory boxes and miscarriage keepsakes. By dressing their babies we hope to make distressing and devastating time a little more comforting by taking the pressure off them. These are provided in East Lancashire and throughout the country on public requirement. Additionally, we strive to provide qualified information by any means appropriate on the 2nd most common chromosome disorder Trisomy 13.

Story

This January myself and a few friends are setting ourselves a challenge. Over the course of the month the team must each run 100 miles, and complete 1000 sit-ups and press-ups.

To take part, the team must pay in £25 and agree to pay a fine for any miles, press-ups or sit-ups they don’t complete. To ensure there is no cheating you will be able to follow the teams progress on Strava and social media. Current team members include:

  • Nic Barnes
  • Becki Matthewman
  • Laura Barnes
  • Tom Barnes
  • Will Berisford Ince
  • Will Jung
  • Becky Hayhurst
  • Dan Hayhurst
  • Sally Evans
  • Gareth Evans
  • Hannah Matthewman
  • Dave Wightman
  • Grace Jung
  • Stu Hodgson
  • Amanda Shires
  • Adam Mitcheson
  • Gerrard Hall
If you’d like to join the team then get in touch. Or if you’d like to support the team then any donations would be greatly appreciated. All money raised will go to Friends of Serenity who have provided a lot of support and help to a close friend of Laura’s recently.

Friends of Serenity aim to help pregnant women and those who have suffered a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.
