Nicholas 's 2023 London Marathon (aka my last marathon)

London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
As many of you know, running has been a passion of mine for the last 20 years. My goal for the last 12 years has been to complete all the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Through life’s up and downs I have been able to complete Chicago, Boston, New York, Tokyo, and Berlin. London will be my 6th and final marathon and I will earn the six star award (To learn more about the 6 star program please click the link - https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/six-star ). Only 8,000 people in the world have accomplished this!
It’s amazing how the popularity of marathons has grown since 2010. In 2010, all anyone had to do was simply sign up online and immediately receive confirmation of acceptance. Now most of the marathons are incredibly difficult to get into and are done through a lottery system. For London 2023, I was lucky enough to be invited to run with the amazing charity Make-A-Wish UK. This wonderful organization helps grant wishes to children experiencing a critical medical condition. Granting these wishes revives a childhood stolen by critical illness and brings light and joy to the child and their family. This charity is special to me because my niece (Nea) was recently diagnosed with a rare neurometabolic disorder that greatly affects quality and length of life. Knowing the difficulty this has put my brother and Nea through shows me how granting a child’s wish has a profoundly positive impact on their life.
The UK has 60,000 children with a critical condition and any support will help Make-A-Wish come one step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.
If so inclined please make a donation to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Thank you for your support!
