Story
My name is Nicholas Robinson I am Autistic 40 Year old Man with Autism, Asperger syndrome, Adult ADHD, Severe Depression and Severe SAD (Seasonal Adjustment syndrome). On 29th September 2016 I was diagnosed with having Type-2 Diabetes and my whole World fell apart and my very Fragile Life fell in pieces. Diabetes UK supported me through a very difficult period in my Life as I had to learn to Live with Diabetes and I created a Health and Wellbeing Management Strategy and in October 2016 I joined the local Gym and started to do exercise, I was very nervous and scared as their is a lot of people at the Gym but I kept going and going to the Gym was very Tough going as I was battling severe Depression and Severe SAD from October 2016 to February 2017 and. I kept pushing myself all Winter and in February 2017 I decided to take on the idea of Swimming the Longest Lake in England (Lake Windermere 10.5 miles) on 2nd September 2017, from February 2017 to August 2017 I trained very hard in the Gym 25 Metre Swimming Pool and at the end of August 2017 I felt ready to take on the Challenge of Swimming Lake Windermere.
I Swum Lake Windermere in the Lake District UK in 6 hours 23 minutes and was a very tough demanding swim and done the swim in a pair of swimming trunks, Swim cap and Swim Goggles (no-wetsuit). On the Windermere Swim on 2nd September 2017 I burnt 9,000 calories and swum a Distance of 17km (10.5 miles). 11 Months after being diagnosed with Diabetes I swum England Longest Lake.
In my second Year of having Diabetes I am doing the USWIM Swim the English Channel up North (36km Swim) at Boundary Park in Cheshire on 16th June 2018 and will be a physical and mentally challenging Swim and I am doing this for Diabetes UK as Diabetes UK supported me to come to terms with having Diabetes and how to move forward in my Life and I wanted to give something back by raising money for Diabetes UK by doing a Charity Swim. I am trying to raise as much Money as I can for this worth while Charity (Diabetes UK) and any Donation you would like to give will be warmly welcomed.
