Story
I haven’t run the Great North Run for roughly 16 years, when I crossed the line and promptly collapsed, waking up in South Shields District Hospital with three drips stuck in me (they stick the third one in your ankle, in case you wondered).
And having spent the entire race thinking “I feel awful, but what’s the worst that can happen?” I missed my PB by one minute. Not that I’ll be chasing that one this year.
The RVI in Newcastle has saved my life, when my appendix went pop around six years ago. It’s saved the life of others close to me even more recently. So entirely selfishly it seems a good idea to help prop it up so that it can keep saving the lives of those of us in the North East.
Any small amount would be amazing. Everything costs a fortune now, so a fiver would be great. You know you love the NHS and would like to help keep it afloat, so you’re essentially getting my gratitude for free. Bargain.
