Budapest Marathon · 11 October 2014

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Whilst the origins of a marathon indicate that in 490 BC, a messenger ran the 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon - mine’s unlikely to reach the wikipedia page..

I’m running the Budapest marathon in October, and would like to use the opportunity to raise awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust – A charity I’ve supported in the past and who have recently opened a ward in the BRI.

If it’s not for the 400+ miles of training leading up to the event or for the endless hours spent icing ankles, maybe consider the poor folk who had to endure our company on the train journeys back from the longer runs!

The recent ice bucket challenge showed how supportive we can be, and we'd hugely appreciate it if you can dig deep to help support this worthy cause.

So here’s some information on the charity and what they do for young adults: https://www.teenagecancertrust.org
