Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

14/12/08 - Well I did it in 2hrs 4mins 6secs which I was really pleased with. It was quite an undulating course (but I got to pass lots of people walking up the hills!!!) and the last couple of miles were tough. I'm pleased it's over - I can have a couple of weeks off before marathon training begins! Thanks again to everyone who has sponsored me - CF Trust is supporting some amazing work on gene therapy & your donations will really help.

11/12/08 - Thank you so much to everyone for your generosity and your kind words of support and encouragement! Not long to go now!

24/11/08 - Just a quick thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far. I'm really touched by your generosity. I went to check out the route last week - it's more up than down. I'm getting quite excited, but also a bit nervous.

4/11/08 - Thanks Michael! I'll do my best. I've only got six weeks left to train, and 13.1 miles didn't seem that far when I signed up - now it just seems to get further and further ...

23/10/08 Update - Thanks Neil! My first sponsor. So now I really am committed! The really nice people at the CF Trust are sending me a running vest so now everyone will see me coming!

- Thanks Angie! 2 hours is a big ask - it's very hilly, you know.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm running my first half-marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.  I've never done a half before, so wish me luck. The race is near Bedford - and it looks pretty hilly, so please don't expect me to set any records.

The race is just before Christmas (Sunday 14th December) so in the season of good will, please considering sponsoring me on behalf of the CF Trust and the amazing work they do for thousands of children and young people with cystic fibrosis.

CF is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease, affecting more than 8,000 people. CF is caused by a faulty gene, and at present, there is no cure. CF affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food. Forty years ago, a child with CF might only live to be five. Today, thanks to the amazing work of the CF Trust, average life expectancy is around 31 years, and continuing improvements in treatments mean that a baby born today can hope to live longer. The CF Trust is searching for a cure through gene therapy, and is continuing to develop treatments to alleviate the symptoms and give children with CF hope for the future.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your generosity!
