Story

Calling the kind folks of the world!

My 2022 goals included helping others, and select charities. One of the quotes heard early this year was "Run into your unknown" - With those words ringing in my ears I decided to start running... literally.

So now has come the time for me to lace up my trainers and raise a bit of wedge for a cause that's affected myself and my amazing wife for some time.

On 10th July I'll be running the Asics London 10K, to raise funds and awareness for Endometriosis.

This awful disease has sent us down a different to expected path in life. If we can give a little back to research then others may not have to go down the same path as I did with Claire in future.

Fully appreciating the times are getting tougher with increased bills and the Ukraine war donations that so many of us have already made, so please feel free to donate anything you feel you can spare, it will be greatly be appreciated.

Btw, I am no runner, nor have never been, in fact this'll be the first outdoor run for around 15 years. Hoping the event has paramedics!

  • Update: 10-6-22: A little update, to up the ante further. I am doubling my efforts now to include the Thame 10k. This takes place on 26th June. So you could argue, sponsoring me and you get 241 !

Here's the generic blurb... (don't read if like me, a little squeamish!)

Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition that can cause painful periods, painful sex and pelvic pain outside of periods. It may also lead to infertility, fatigue and bowel and bladder problems.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth, that's as many as diabetes yet very few people have even heard of it.The impact can be felt for life and there is no cure.

It takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis of endometriosis in the UK, that's too long! Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.
