Story
My story in full: https://www.meningitisnow.org/support-us/news-centre/meningitis-stories/nick-gs-story/
In July 2018 I was hospitalised with Meningococcal Meningitis. What followed were some of the hardest months of my life, where my body and mind were no longer functioning in a way that I was used to. I'm fortunate and proud to say that after 5-6 months, I've now made a full recovery.
However, through the process of my recovery I learned that this is not always the case, with some people being left with long term, and potentially life-changing after-effects. Especially with Meningococcal Meningitis, where 1 in 10 cases are fatal in the UK.
Meningitis Now is an amazing charity that provides support and aftercare for people and families who are suffering from or have suffered with Meningitis. I never needed their assistance personally but I've since learned that there are a lot of people who rely on their services.
On the 27th May 2019, I will be running the Vitality 10,000, a 10KM run through Central London, to raise money for this worthwhile organisation. It would mean the world ti me if you could spare some money to support the amazing work that Meningitis Now do.
