My name's Nick and I ride bikes, which is why I'm as surprised as anyone that I've agreed to run ten thousand metres on 18 November. I mean, they call it a 10k to underplay the horror of it, but the pros call it ten thousand metres to make it sound more impressive, so I'm doing the same.
Ten thousand sodding metres around the park - which, let's not be under any illusions, will entail a good hour of continuous running, without a single opportunity to freewheel - I do hope you appreciate the commitment here.
But: it's all for a good cause: not only are the Movember Foundation champions of well-cultivated facial hair, they also do great work in getting blokes to care about their physical and mental health - in a word, stopping men dying too young. So please give if you can. And/or perhaps even come and watch? Event details are here: https://www.mo-running.com/manchester
