Here we go... Some guy is about to run a moderately challenging distance in a more than mediocre time and he'd really like your money, all for a good cause. Bet he'll also tell you that running is great, you should try it.

Take two: Hello. I'll be running in the Grand Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday, 25th February and I will be encouraging people I know or don't to sponsor me, the funds going to Indian Futures for their brilliant work developing educational projects for young people in South East India.

Training for my first (relatively) long distance run has given me an excuse to dawdle by the sea and gaze at the moon on many a wintry evening (running is great, try it). It's also my tribute to the astonishing dedication of the IF team, its founder and fundraisers, Anna, Tom and Anita. But above all it's a chance, I hope, for us to give a little to the youngsters of Vedanthangal.
