50km Summer Trail Series · 4 September 2021

The Anna Freud Centre has pioneered better mental health care for children and young people for over 65 years. Our vision is a world in which all children and young people are supported to build on their own strengths and achieve their goals in life.

Story

Running over the past 16 months has helped maintain my mental health. Some days I've struggled to move forwards. I've perhaps suffered less than most, but maybe more than some. Either way, lacing up has been my way of practicing mindfulness.

5km was my default distance when the pandemic hit. But as the need to find headspace increased, the runs got longer. I've now entered the Ultra X 50km summer trail race in Yorkshire, on the 4th September (https://ultra-x.co/summer-trail-series/), to shine a light on, and raise a few quids for, a charity which supports the mental well being of children.

I am proud, and lucky enough to work for a brand (Jo Malone London), who champion raising awareness of mental health. They have supported employees with a number of initiatives during the pandemic, and continue to work closely with a range of charities to promote mental well being (https://www.jomalone.co.uk/our-values/charity-mission).

One of these charities is The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (https://www.annafreud.org/), a world leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families which has pioneered and delivered mental health care for over 60yrs.

Whatever the amount, please consider a donation towards this worthy cause. I'd also ask you to share this fundraising page to give others the opportunity as well.

p.s if anyone fancies going for a run, long or short, virtual or in person, give me a shout :)
