The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

The UK’s mass participation event industry has come together with JustGiving to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign launched in response to COVID-19 to Save the UK's Charities.

Here at The Mighty Creatives we are taking the 2.6 Challenge to our own Mighty Level, using the campaign to help us awareness and raise vital funds to support some of our most vulnerable children and young people across the region.

Annually we support 100’s of young people leaving care to access critical support to help them make the transition from care to independent living. This is a huge step at any time for these young people who at just 16-19 years of age find themselves now navigating independence alongside the isolation of the coronavirus crisis.

With so many more young people vulnerable, isolated, lonely, with limited access to support and in some cases no food in the cupboards, we simply cannot wait to offer them support. The need is now.

But by taking on the 2.6 Challenge, together we can still make a difference for our children around the region.

My contribution to the 2.6 Challenge for The Mighty Creatives has been to cycle daily for 26 days, adding at least 1km every day meaning that I would achieve 352km over 26 days.  But I did more than that and reached 403km - and haven't stopped cycling since.  The campaign is still as relevant as ever, lock down is still alive and young people in care still need our support.

As at 12 July, I've accumulated over 1000km and am still pedalling away.  This is pretty impressive for me, given the state of my knees, eyesight, uncertain balance and the fact it took me far too long to pass my cycling proficiency test in the first place.

But this isn't just about bike rides: it's about keeping the campaig going too.  So any help you can give will be hugely appreciated by all of us.

You can track my progress here and that of our team and supporters throughout the month across our social media channels @MightyCreatives and by following

Thanks so much for your help! Here's to the finish line - whenever that may be!
